About Me

I am Melisa Fleming, Ph.D., LPC-S, LMFT, Owner and Director of C Beyond: Counseling, Consulting, and Supervision, PLLC.  I completed my B.S.in Psychology at the University of Maryland European Division, my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, and my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.  I am a licensed professional since 2005 and earned my supervisor status in 2013.  I have held many roles in the military community: as a dependent I grew up in the Army, as a spouse I developed in the Air Force, and currently I am the spouse of retired USAF and the Key Spouse for my husband’s unit.  My areas of expertise are: Working with Military Veterans and their families, individuals, couples, and families in areas such as: Anxiety, Depression, Transition, Parenting, Relationship building, and Stress Management.

I have presented on topics such as: Bullying, How to Prevent Burnout, Continuing Family Traditions During the Holidays, Supporting Children with Mental Health Challenges in School, and others.  In addition to teaching master’s level students in Counseling Programs, I also work with professionals who are completing hours toward full licensure status, and I am a member of several professional organizations:  AAMFT, SAAMFT (on the board), ACA, and TCA.

I believe in a collaborative working relationship with every person who is ready to build on their strengths to C-Beyond the
challenges life brings through Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Brief Therapy, Play in Therapy (usually for use with children and families with children in counseling), and Mindfulness/Meditation.   I have completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Methods Couples Therapy and utilize Gottman Methods Couples Therapy in my work with couples.  I am also DBT trained to work with a variety of transitional and life-long challenges.  Each person, family, or couple is carefully evaluated, and treatment planning is individually established.

I have a team of Licensed Professional Counselor- Associates that I supervise in my practice.  All of my supervisees are able to see clients on a private pay, reduced cost basis. If you would like to be seen by a master's level counselor who is completing the final stage of their training and are still under the direct support of a licensed supervisor, please contact my office (210) 725-1039.

I will be expanding the practice to support master's level counseling students who will be under my direct site supervision; as well as, being followed by their university supervisor.  Clients seen by students will be seen at a greatly reduced cost with the expertise of two supervisors.  If you are interested in being seen by a master's level counseling student, please call and leave your contact information to be placed on a waiting list.

I look forward to hearing from you either by phone (210) 725-1039 or via the contact page.

Thank you, Dr. Fleming
